What can be expected from the Redmi K80 series?

Sub-brand Xiaomi Redmi ready to launch smartphones of the series K80 November 27 in China. The K series has always been popular on the mainland because it offers flagship-level features at a more affordable price. The popularity was quite evident last year when the Redmi K70 series sold more than 2 million units in a matter of days. The K80 series is likely to be successful again in China, and there are several reasons for this.

First this year redmi changing product strategy. The K series will now be the company’s most premium offering and will bridge the gap between Xiaomi’s flagships like the Xiaomi 15.

The company also offered new logo in bold red text in capital letters: “REDMI”. Additionally, Redmi is optimizing the K series by releasing only two models of the K80 series: K80 and K80 Pro. Unlike previous generations, there will be no K80e model. With all these changes, what can we expect from the Redmi K80 series? Let’s take a look at what we know so far.

1. premium display

Although the company has not yet announced all the details of the new phones, we already know a lot about their screens. Both the K80 and K80 Pro will have a 2K AMOLED display developed by TCL Huaxing.

The display uses a special M9 glossy material, which reduces power consumption by 20.3% compared to the K70 series display. It also offers a total maximum brightness of 1,800 nits and includes eye-healthy features like DC Dimming, circular polarization technology, and AON Smart Eye Protection.

Additionally, the display will offer hardware-level eye protection, full brightness DC dimming, and is TÜV Rheinland certified for anti-flicker eye protection. It also features ADV-MEMC eye protection and AON Smart Eye Care, which provides real-time vision monitoring.

2. Flagship processor

Flagship processors will complement the premium display. Redmi K80 Pro will have flagship-level performance based on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. This is Qualcomm’s first SoC to use proprietary Orion cores; It features an octa-core design with 2 main cores clocked at an impressive 4.32GHz and 6 performance cores clocked up to 3.53GHz.

3. cameras

Redmi K80 is expected to feature a 50MP Omnivision OV50 main sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro lens. It will use a 20-megapixel Omnivision OV20B front camera for selfies.

The camera setup on the Pro is better, with a 50MP main sensor (Omnivison OV50 again) paired with a much higher 32MP ISOCELL KD1 ultra-wide sensor and a 50MP ISCOELL JN5 telephoto lens with 2.6x optical zoom. The front camera remains the same 20-megapixel sensor as the standard K80.

4. Battery

The K80 will be powered by a 6,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging support, which will provide enough power for the whole day and more. The K80 Pro may offer a slightly smaller 6,000mAh battery, but it is expected to make up for this with the convenience of faster 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

5. Rest of specifications

Both models are expected to come with other premium features. The K80 will have an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a metal middle frame for durability, Dragon Crystal glass on the front and back, and IP68/IP69 certification for dust and water resistance.

The K80 Pro will share the same design and build quality as the standard model, offering a consistent premium feel across the range.
