New instructions published on Microsoft’s official support page detail how users can bypass compatibility checks and install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.

However, Microsoft emphasizes that this is not recommended. The company warns that users may encounter:

• system instability,
• compatibility issues,
• Lack of critical security updates.

According to Microsoft’s statement, users who try to install Windows 11 on unsupported computers will see the following message:

This computer does not meet the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11. Installing Windows 11 on this computer is not recommended and may cause compatibility issues. If you continue, your computer will no longer be supported and will not be able to receive updates. By selecting “Accept” you confirm that you have read and accepted this notice.

This notice makes it clear that users must bear full responsibility for problems caused by installing the operating system on unsupported hardware.

TPM 2.0 is no longer a formidable obstacle

One of Windows 11’s most controversial requirements was the mandatory presence of the TPM 2.0 chip, a security feature designed to protect sensitive data. Initially, this requirement precluded the possibility of receiving updates for many older but still functional computers. But Microsoft’s latest move effectively softens this stance by allowing users to bypass the TPM 2.0 requirement.

Although Microsoft does not provide step-by-step instructions for the installation process, it is believed that users can complete the update using the Windows Update Center and the Check Your PC program.

If the system detects that the device does not meet the minimum requirements of Windows 11, a watermark will appear on the desktop and a warning will appear in the Settings application. Users can remove this watermark by editing the Windows registry, but inexperienced users are not advised to do so.

While this solution gives users more freedom, it also puts the burden of responsibility on them. Users with unsupported devices now need to weigh the risks of potential system instability and security vulnerabilities with their desire to access the latest Windows features.
