HMD Global was quietly released HMD ArcA device aimed at those looking for an affordable smartphone with basic features. Although pricing and availability have not been announced yet, the features of the phone indicate a basic entry-level model.

Features of HMD Arc

Nokia HMD Arc supports basic features. It has a 6.52-inch HD+ LCD display with a standard 60Hz refresh rate and 20:9 aspect ratio. There is a drop-shaped notch on the screen where the front camera is located.

Powered by a Unisoc 9863A processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD), the phone is designed for basic tasks such as web browsing, social networking and light gaming. It runs on Android 14 (Go edition) for smooth operation on entry-level hardware. This shortened version of Android offers an efficient user experience, especially for first-time smartphone users or those switching from older devices.

The highlight of the HMD Arc is its 5,000mAh battery, which promises regular users a long day of use. However, the 10W charging speed may be a test of patience for users accustomed to faster charging technologies.

The dual camera setup on the back features a 13-megapixel primary sensor and an unspecified secondary sensor. The 5MP front camera is for basic selfies and video calls, emphasizing the phone’s practical purposes rather than focusing on advanced photography.

Although HMD Arc is affordable, it does not compromise on security. Its side-mounted fingerprint scanner and IP52/IP54 dust and splash-proof rating add to its appeal. HMD Global’s two-year security update promise is a rare commitment in the budget smartphone segment.
