According to Channel 24 with reference to the Russian media, the cost of sim cards for telecom operators in Russia increased by about 3.5 times. Therefore, cellular operators had to switch to their Chinese counterparts.
Currently, Yota has already imposed a fee of 50 rubles for each sim card. Russian media say that other operators will introduce appropriate changes in the near future.
Even at the request of the propaganda media, almost all operators refused to comment on the situation. Only MegaFon described the introduction of SIM card charges as a mandatory measure. According to the company, this is necessary to partially offset the costs, including the cost of sim cards. The company also emphasized that the cost of sim-cards for Russian users has increased many times.
But Russian analysts suggest that companies are trying to “create a new source of income” in this way. That is, in Russia everything is as usual – the company is primarily concerned only with itself. At the same time, analysts do not exclude the possibility of the impact of the use of parallel imports, which inevitably increases the costs of operators, when chips or sim cards of traditional manufacturers are imported informally.
“Legalization” of parallel imports
If you haven’t heard, Russia has legalized “gray imports.” All this because of sanctions, because official suppliers and companies refuse to cooperate with the country that started the bloody war, we have to look for other ways.
This has led to the fact that the cost of computer equipment and electronics for the end user may increase by 20-50% in the near future. And Russia has serious problems with some categories of goods. Among them are premium models of household appliances, flagship smartphones, smart watches, game consoles and other devices.
