The company has already placed an order for 10 aircraft from the British Hybrid Air Vehicles manufacturer. It is planned to launch commercial flight service on airships by 2026.
The length of the routes will be up to 425 kilometers, and the cargo of an airship will be up to 100 passengers. Over the past six months, both companies have conducted a number of studies on the use of airships on domestic routes in Spain. Already at the initial stage of the partnership, the companies plan to operate flights around the country, and then gradually expand the Air Nostrum fleet. In some areas, airships will completely replace jet and turboprop aircraft, in others they will complement them.

flights with Airlander Reducing CO2 emissions by 90% compared to conventional aircraft. Of course there is a downside, because the flight of an airship will be significantly longer than using an airplane.
Air Nostrum President Carlos Bertomeu said Air Nostrum wants to follow the EU’s climate initiatives, so it aims for “carbon zero” by 2050. According to the entrepreneur, Air Nostrum has enough resources to decarbonize its operations without harming businesses and customers. Features of Airlander airships
Airlander airships have a helium-filled fabric hull that provides lift, as well as a composite design and a pair of diesel generators. The latter uses two more electric motors with a total capacity of 500 kW.
This hybrid platform provides airships with a speed of 138 km / h and a range of 425 kilometers.
The Airlander cabin will provide up to 100 seats for passengers.
The 400-kilometer flight will take passengers around 3 hours instead of the usual 40-60 minutes, but won’t have a choice in a number of destinations.
