Police fear security and privacy issues. Like the Chinese government, they are concerned that vehicle-mounted cameras “catch up too heavily”.

Tesla’s ban

• According to German media, the ban covers “all the property of the police department and the administration of the Berlin State Criminal Police.”
• The problem is that the cameras in Tesla cars are constantly filming. In this way, they can record the cops, police cars, security guards or other people in the room.
• According to law enforcement, the videos will be permanently stored on the servers of Tesla’s European headquarters in the Netherlands.
• Exactly how the records are processed is unclear.
• This issue was addressed in January and it was due to the report of the ZDF TV channel. Then the police found out “All Tesla car models make and export permanent, event-free video recordings of the entire vehicle’s environment.”.
