This fall, Apple will unveil an all-new iPhone 14 series with new features like a display (always-on) and an updated camera. And as it turned out, for the first time the iPhone 14 processor will be different from the iPhone 14 Pro processor.
Apple traditionally updates the iPhone processor every year. For example, the iPhone 12 line used the A14 and the iPhone 13 line used the A15. This will not happen with the iPhone 14 processor this year.
According to trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max processors will not receive updates this year. This means that the A15 processor currently used in the iPhone 13 line will remain in these devices.
But the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will receive an updated processor. These two devices are expected to be equipped with the new A16.
While we’re still waiting for actual testing, Apple’s supplier TSMC’s roadmap shows that the A16 will be manufactured in the same 5 nanometer process as the A15, which coincides with the A14.
