What function are you talking about?
Some smartphone models under Google’s Pixel brand have a traffic accident recognition function. Here’s how it works: If your car has an accident, the phone detects the event and can call for self-help if the driver or passengers can’t.
The lines of code in the latest version of Android Personal Security replace certain words with common words. For example, the app no longer mentions the Pixel as the user’s smartphone – it’s replaced by “Your Device”.
Enthusiasts have discovered numerous minor changes to the program code. This could indicate that Google is planning to roll out traffic accident detection on other devices to a number of Android users.
How does the car crash detector work?
Car crash detection uses your phone’s location, motion sensors and sounds. This function does not work when power saving mode or airplane mode is on. When a malfunction is detected, the phone vibrates, rings loudly and asks if help is needed, both verbally and on the screen.
The user can respond within 60 seconds by saying “Emergency” which includes a speaker. If the user does not answer within 60 seconds, the loudspeaker will be activated and emergency services will be called independently with a loud message describing a traffic accident. The address of the accident site will be indicated in the message.
If the secret code snippets found by the geek indicate that the car crash detection feature will appear on other Android phones, that’s good news. Such a move will make the Android operating system even more useful, and perhaps in the future this feature will spread to other countries.
