With the new Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor has been trained, a chip with the surname ‘Plus’ serving as the basis for this new Xiaomi 12S series which opens its alliance with Leica in the photography department.

The new Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro have a great relationship with their predecessors, the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. differing in screen size and especially in the photo section.
The Xiaomi 12S comes with a 6.28 inch AMOLED panel with FullHD resolution, while the Pro model goes up to 6.73 inches with 2K resolution. Both offer a 120Hz refresh rate and in the latter case an LTPO panel is chosen.
This generation introduces the latest Qualcomm and MediaTek processors, the latter we will see the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, reaching a specific version of the Xiaomi 12S Pro, in both, a chip with cores up to 3.2 GHz, manufactured at 4 nanometers set. Promises 10% more power and 30% less consumptionCompared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
We have up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of storage accompanying the new processors. As for the battery, the new Xiaomi will offer 4,500 and 4,600 mAh, respectively. Fast charging up to 120W this sets them apart from most of their competitors. As Xiaomi explains, the device has improved its autonomy thanks to the efficiency of the processor.
At the photographic level, the new Xiaomi 12S comes with the signature Leica. After working with Huawei for a while, classic photography brand bets on Xiaomi to complete the new flagships. It’s a collaboration where Xiaomi explains that “the result is very different” from what they’ve had before.
Xiaomi 12S is a Sony IMX707 50 megapixel sensor, along with two additional 13-megapixel wide-angle sensors and 5-megapixel telemacro. In the case of the Pro model, it again bets on Sony’s 50-megapixel sensor, but is complemented by two other sensors with the same number of megapixels for the wide-angle and telephoto lens.
The new Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro have just been presented in China. It is unknown at this time whether they will reach other markets and when they will be available. These are their official prices in different configurations:
