On July 4, Xiaomi held an event in China to launch the Xiaomi 12S series. On the eve of the announcement, there were rumors that the company will present a variant of the Xiaomi 12S Pro with a Mediatek chipset. But actually this device turned out to be a version of Xiaomi 12 Pro called Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition. The new smartphone came out cheaper than the old one and here is why.
As the name suggests, the Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition is equipped with a MediaTek chipset. To be precise, it is powered by the Dimensity 9000 Plus SoC.
In addition, the Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition comes with a simplified camera system. The Dimensity variant retains the 50-megapixel Sony IMX707 main sensor with OIS and the 32-megapixel selfie camera from the Snapdragon model. But the other two sensors are weaker 13 megapixels and 5 megapixels.
The innovation works with a battery with a capacity of 5160 mAh. However, the Xiaomi 12 Pro uses a smaller battery with a capacity of 4600 mAh. However, the Snapdragon version supports 120W wired charging, while the Dimensity model is limited to 67W. In addition, Xiaomi has abandoned wireless charging support on its new smartphone.
Overall, Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition is 700 yuan cheaper than Xiaomi 12 Pro. At first glance, this looks like a good deal.
