Xiaomi has recently introduced the Xiaomi 12S series smartphones in China. Now, Chinese whistleblower Digital Chat Station reports that the upcoming Xiaomi 13 series may feature a ceramic body. It was supposed to be produced by BYD. The insider adds that this is just a prototype and it remains to be seen if the final product will actually have a ceramic back panel. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra was expected to have a ceramic body, but the brand gave up on it.

Xiaomi has used ceramic back panels for its high-end flagships, including the MIX 4 and MIX Fold. The ceramic case has a lightweight form factor. It will be interesting to see the new generation Xiaomi 13 series with a ceramic body.

The Xiaomi 13 series is expected to launch in November of this year. It will reportedly be powered by the SM8550 processor, which could be Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The series is expected to consist of standard and Pro models, codenamed Nuwa and Fuxi, respectively. The first one has the model number 221113C.
