Xiaomi 12S Pro and Ultra beat iPhone 13 Pro Max in autonomy tests

Xiaomi 12S Pro and Xiaomi 12S Ultra flagships can already be purchased in China – it was only a matter of time before the first independent tests appeared. Now these tests have emerged and they say Qualcomm and Xiaomi have done a good job.

There are actually two tests to consider: performance and autonomy. CPU and GPU performance measured using 3DMark Wildlife. The innovations failed to bypass the Apple A15 Bionic single-chip system in the iPhone 13 Pro Max, but they are faster than any other Android smartphone built on different platforms. And even the MediaTek Dimensity 9000, which is superior to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, could not resist.

But in the performance test Xiaomi 12S Pro and Xiaomi 12S Ultra came out on top, but if not the best, then in the autonomy test the new flagships of the Chinese company emerged as the absolute leaders. Yes, the advantage over the Redmi K50 and iPhone 13 Pro Max is small, but still there.

The SoT autonomy test is a simulation of real smartphone operation. It includes playing Genshin Impact, using the Chinese messenger WeChat, making audio and video calls, surfing the web, using TikTok and video streaming services. Each scenario takes about 30 minutes – and this continues until the battery is completely discharged.

In the test, the Xiaomi 12S Pro lasted 7 hours 50 minutes, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra – 7 hours 47 minutes. The results of the iPhone 13 Pro Max and Redmi K50 are 7 hours 42 minutes and 7 hours 39 minutes, respectively. Others showed significantly less autonomy.

Tests show that Qualcomm has done a good job on the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 – at least when compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 888, the platform turned out to be both powerful and, all things considered, quite energy efficient. You cannot attribute all the achievements to Qualcomm alone, because Xiaomi was involved in the adaptation and customization of the platform. Overall, the Xiaomi 12S Pro and Xiaomi 12S Ultra look promising. It is a pity that the new Xiaomi flagships do not go on sale worldwide. Source
