Red Magic has announced new gaming flagships – the RedMagic 7S and 7S Pro – in its homeland of China, and both phones pack some serious tech. Recently released gaming phones have great features packed with high end hardware. The series includes a host of features such as Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Soc, 6.8 inch FHD+ AMOLED display with up to 165Hz refresh rate, LED-backlit internal fan, under-display camera and much more.

The design of the Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro is similar to the previous generation models. Red Magic fits the design of their smartphones and doesn’t try to overdo it like “some” brands. Both smartphones share a similar design with the Red Magic 7 and 7 Pro launched earlier this year. However, both phones have a front-facing camera under the screen and a neat front bezel.

The back of the smartphones has the same iconic translucent look with multiple settings. The Red Magic 7S has a strip camera module in which the cameras are arranged linearly. The Pro model has a rectangular camera island with cameras arranged in a swirl. Next to the camera module you will find your favorite cooling fan with RGB lighting. Smartphones have two pressure-sensitive game triggers, as well as a volume rocker and a power button on the right. On the left is a red switch to enable liquid cooling.

Red Magic 7S features a 6.8 inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with LTM and DC dimming. Interestingly, it has a 165Hz refresh rate, which is higher than the Pro model. The phone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. To keep the phone cool during heavy games, the company has equipped the smartphone with ICE 9.0 liquid cooling technology. The device also has a built-in fan that can circulate the air at up to 20,000 revolutions per minute.

In addition, the smartphone is equipped with the Magic GPU frame stabilization system, which supports rendering and synchronization, five-fold rendering buffering, and intelligent recognition of additional TC frames.

It’s not a photography oriented phone, but it still has good camera specs. The device is equipped with a triple primary camera consisting of a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro lens and LED flash. On the front, the phone offers an 8-megapixel camera sensor below the screen for selfies and video calling. The gaming phone supports a 4500mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging. Speaking of software, the Red Magic 7S runs Android 12-based Red Magic 5.0 out of the box.

The 7S Pro is also powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, but it also has the company’s Red Core 1 processor, a dedicated gaming chipset to boost the device’s performance. The smartphone is equipped with an advanced Ice 10.0 cooling system.

The rear camera sensors on the Red Magic 7 Pro are the same as the standard model, but it has an upgraded 16-megapixel selfie camera. The Nubia Red Magic 7S Pro is powered by an expanded 5,000mAh battery and supports 135W fast charging. It comes with a standard 165W Gallium Nitride charging head. The smartphone runs Red Magic 5.0 based on Android 12.

Red Magic 7S Pro is also available in a special transformer model. The special version of the model will have a design inspired by Transformers. It will match the iconic look of Bumblebee. The device will also come in a custom hexagonal retail box, complete with a Bumblebee-style external cooler, a protective cover, and a few other accessories.

Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro Price and availability

The recently released Red Magic 7 and Red Magic 7 Pro will be available in two colors: Dark Knight and Deuterium Front Transparent. The Pro model will also be available in a special Bumble edition featuring the iconic yellow colour.

The Red Magic 7 was launched at a starting price of 3,999 yuan (about $596) for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant will be available for 4,799 yuan (about $715). The transparent front Deuterium model with 12GB RAM + 256GB storage will be priced at 4,899 yuan (about US$730), while the 16GB + 512GB storage model will be priced at 5,499 yuan (US$819).

The Red Magic 7S Pro will be available for 5,199 yuan ($775) for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Pro variant also comes with 16GB RAM + 512GB for RMB 5,999 ($894). Additionally, Deutarium is priced at RMB 5,299 ($790) for the 12GB + 256GB storage variant. It’s also available in a 16GB + 512GB storage variant, available for 5,999 yuan ($894).

Also, the Special Transformer Edition Red Magic 7S Pro is available priced at 6,499 yuan ($969) for a single 16GB + 512GB storage variant. Phone sale dates will be announced soon.
