A passerby in Arizona attacked the autonomous vehicle: Video of the damage

Early on Tuesday morning, July 5, a pedestrian ran in front of a car while the vehicle was in self-driving mode. The Verge was the first to write about it on Thursday.

What happened?

  • Waymo car company Nick Smith said the person was “out of control” and injured the safety driver after the car stopped.
  • The truth is, there was probably someone in the driver’s seat to control the journey process that was undertaken to test the drone technology.
  • Noticing a passerby, the driver stopped the vehicle in manual mode.
  • After that, suspiciously ran to the hood and broke the windshield.
  • The police detained the attacker and took him to the health center.

A passerby filmed the damaged car, which shows how serious their “injuries” were. It is unclear exactly what the attacker used and how he achieved this, but a rather large hole can be seen in the middle of the windshield.

“The new Waymo Jaguar was in a single car accident this evening. Emergency crews confirmed it did not crash into another vehicle. At least one person was a passenger when I arrived. The windshield was completely broken.”– Written by Andrew Gill.

The driver was reportedly “not seriously injured”.
