Google also showed off a similar translation technology in May, but it’s currently unclear whether development is ongoing and at what stage, or whether it’s just a concept, i.e. a specific vision of the future device the company wants to create. Here, Xiaomi has outstripped the American tech giant.

What is known about the new glasses

  • As the name suggests, one of the main features of the gadget is the camera. I bought the glasses 50 megapixel wide-angle sensor, for which a large and clearly visible block had to be installed on the left side of the case. The camera has a periscopic telephoto lens with 5x 8 megapixel zoom, as well as electronic image stabilization.

  • Mijia Glasses Camera allows you to run AR (augmented reality) applications.
  • The glasses also have the option of translating a foreign language into text and displaying it on the user’s screen. It happens in real time. For example, you can translate the inscriptions from English to Chinese.

Price

  • On August 3, 2022, Xiaomi will launch a crowdfunding program where first applicants will be able to purchase the device at a price of 2,499 yuan.
  • The regular price of the gadget 2,699 yuanit’s about $400 – for that money you can buy a decent smartphone.
