The Legion Y70 is Lenovo’s first smartphone to feature the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. It belongs to the gaming brand Legion but looks like a regular smartphone. At the same time, the manufacturer assures that such a decision does not affect the performance of the device, since all the efforts of the engineers are focused on the internal layout.
The novelty has a 6.67-inch OLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a tactile layer frequency of up to 1500 Hz. In the center there is a hole for a selfie camera with a resolution of 16 MP. There is no fingerprint scanner under the screen, it can be assumed that it is built into the power button. This made it possible to make the Legion Y70 quite thin at just 7.99mm.
The manufacturer managed to create “up to 10 layers of cooling”, including several graphite sheets and the largest “liquid cooling” area (5047 mm²) with a thickness of only 0.55 mm. Since this is a gaming smartphone after all, it has the appropriate features and accessories such as a cooling case, external heatsink and attachable shoulder buttons.
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset is paired with LPDDR5 RAM which can be 8, 12 or 16GB. Storage is also available in three variants: 128, 256 and 512 GB. As for the photo and video features, the triple camera with 50 MP main module, 13 MP secondary module and 2 MP depth sensor is responsible for this.
The Legion Y70 battery has a capacity of 5100 mAh and supports 68 W fast charging. Lenovo offers several smart features that constantly monitor battery life and charging progress. The smartphone runs the ZUI 14 proprietary software. The Android version is not named, but the shell is probably based on Android 12.
The Lenovo Legion Y70 is available for pre-order on the manufacturer’s website in China. Buyers are offered a choice of three colors – black, white and red. The last option is available with the maximum memory configuration. Price starts from 3299 yuan.
