The new version of Android is already with us. Or at least in the hands of some lucky owners of Google Pixel terminals that are starting to get Android 13. As always, it is normal that most users do not communicate with this operating system for a long time. knowing that only one in ten mobile phones have Android 12
The large user base is between Android 10 and Android 11.with a share of 22.3% and 27%, respectively. However, when we finally get in touch with the awesome version of 2022, it’s interesting to know the hidden gems Android 13 has brought us, starting with the fact that the system hasn’t seen the best it has ever had.
The server has been testing the Android 13 beta for a long time and now the final version and these are the functions I find most usefulto the point where some swapped apps for the same purpose on the back of a OnePlus One in 2015.
Change language by app
(Pretty secret) Something that allows Android 13 select the language in which we want an application to be displayed. It currently works with not all apps, but those compatible with this function. It’s interesting because especially in small apps that don’t have a big budget, translations are poorly done, their texts get cut because they don’t fit a particular language, etc. relatively common.
At the same time, as it once happened to me, you carry your cell phone in English but want to have a specific app in Spanish. Now with Android 13 you can do this without resorting to strange apps.
The good news is that is a function that asks us which version of English or Spanish we want., United Kingdom, United States, Spain, Mexico, Argentina etc. The problem is that we cannot change it from the “Applications” section of the settings but we will have to go to ‘Languages and text input -> Application languages’.
goodbye to notifications random apps you’ve never opened
Throughout its history, Android has dramatically improved permissions management. However, notifications were still enabled by default, unless a particular app asked us. When opening an app for the first time on Android 13, the system will ask us if we want to receive notifications from it. That is, as the iPhone always does.
Why not, installing Instagram isn’t equivalent to always asking us to take care of it when someone hits it. like or not and let the system tell us. We will have to decide on a case-by-case basis based on what we expect from everything we use and install. However, without having to dive into the settings, improve the quality of our time, from now on. Even apps we don’t open won’t be able to send us their annoying notifications.
Clipboard wins many integers
The boxes at the bottom left allow us to interact with what we just copied, both to share and to edit.
Yes Android dashboard with Gboard is already far beyond iOSWell, we have access to a history even though Apple doesn’t allow it, now Google is promoting it more. The company understands that if we’re copying something, it’s probably because we want to share it as well as copy it.
Therefore, when copying text and images on Android 13, the system will show us what we have copied in a small box on the left (like a screenshot), it gives us the ability to share directly in any application without having to leave the current application and search for the target application.
Of course, if you don’t want to share directly, whatever you copied will stay on your clipboard, ready for you to copy whenever you want. It’s a function I value a lot as I used Fliktu for the same task in 2015.
So we can edit a newly copied image. After editing, we can copy it again to share.
Finally, if you want to edit an image or text after copying it, simply click the box; You can change the text, the frame of the picture, make explanations. This is what we see in the picture above.
QR scanner from anywhere
android 13 added a QR scanner to its quick settings. Since they’re swipeable from anywhere on the system, including the lock screen, launching them is as easy as opening the terminal, clicking ‘scan QR code’ and scanning.
By default, the setting does not come next to Internet, Bluetooth, etc, so we will have to edit the order of the settings to continue. The thumbnail shows a QR.
Limit download bandwidth
On these holidays, a rural housing which had very weak WiFi. While testing the Android 13 betas, I liked an option for developers that I can now implement that limits the download bandwidth on the WiFi network.
this way i made sure No matter how well I used the Pixel, it didn’t deprive other people of a stable connection. connected to the network. The only problem I’ve found is that it doesn’t apply to install. Apps like Google Photos are very demanding on the network, keeping all the bandwidth as they don’t allow them to limit the speed on their own. It would be nice if Google also imposes a rate limit on the upload channel in future releases.
