Special display hidden from prying eyes: Lenovo unveils its special glasses

The company presented the future innovation at the IFA trade fair in Berlin from 2 to 6 September 2022. You can also look at the glasses in the virtual showcase.

Features of Lenovo Glasses T1

It is worth noting right away that this is not a virtual or augmented reality device, as it has been recently. You cannot walk safely with these glasses as your vision will be completely blocked and the cable will keep the wearer connected to any display and power source. The device is designed to hold you in place as if you are watching a TV or monitor, but the effect creates a feeling similar to a large cinema screen. You can watch movies, play games or deal with confidential digital documents.

  • The essence of the glasses consists of two screens, inside of which the image from a computer or smartphone is broadcast and their screens are effectively switched.
  • T1 glasses use a physical cable to connect to PCs, tablets, smartphones, Macs and other devices that can output video via USB-C. If you want to use the glasses with iOS devices like your iPhone, you’ll have to buy an HDMI adapter from Lenovo and an adapter from Apple, as the company still hasn’t moved away from Lightning technology.
  • Such devices will come with several nose pads and different frame options, which are useful in case of long-term use.
  • T1s are battery powered but can be powered by connected devices.
  • It also has built-in speakers.

Lenovo Glasses T1 will initially be released for the Chinese market. In China they are called Lenovo Yoga Glasses and they will appear before the end of the year. The company also plans to launch them in “select markets” in 2023.

Price not disclosed.
