The Peresvet mobile laser weapon was first announced by Vladimir Putin in 2018. At a conference in Moscow on September 21, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that during a recent test, the laser burned a drone at a distance of 5 kilometers in just five seconds.
What can “Peresvet” do, according to the Russians?
According to a Russian official, “Peresvet” can blind all satellite reconnaissance systems of a possible enemy in orbits up to 1,500 kilometers and disable them in flight using laser radiation.
Perhaps Russia plans to disable Starlink this way if the hack attacks continue to fail.
It is known that “Peresvet” should be mass-produced in Russia and supplied to its troops. If this is true, Russian forces may be using a mobile laser system in the war with Ukraine, although no evidence of this has been presented so far.
As it will be remembered, it will be reminded that Russia recently announced that it considers the special satellites used to monitor the Earth as a “legitimate target” during the war.
“Modern” Russian weapons
Borisov also claims that “unaware successors” of the current Peresvet system are under development.
These are primarily laser weapons, wide-range electromagnetic weapons that will replace conventional weapons in the next decade – this is not an exotic idea, but a fact, – said the Russian minister.
Whatever the case, experience proves the fact that you cannot trust Russia. The country cannot exist without lies, and it constantly deceives, at least verbally trying to intimidate, but in practice it is often seen that any other weapon praised by propagandists is worthless. The sanctions against the terrorist country, which deprives them of access to the necessary technology, also testify to the impossibility of creating such weapons. Russia’s lauded “advanced” technologies are decades behind.
