Rumors suggest that Apple has several new devices before the end of the year, including a number of Macs and iPads. It doesn’t look like there will be an event in October 2022, but there will be updates soon, possibly via a press release. iPad Pro

The iPad Pro was last updated in April 2021 and we expect an updated version at the end of 2022. We know it’s not a big change in design, but there are some features worth waiting for.

Both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ models will receive upgrades, but only the 12.9-inch model is said to feature a mini LED display, despite some reports suggesting that Apple may implement this technology in both models.

Apple’s updated ‌iPad‌ Pros are expected to use the M2 chip, which was first introduced in the new MacBook Air in June, bringing improved speed and performance. Wireless charging support is also rumored, perhaps Apple will add a new and larger glass Apple logo that will allow for MagSafe charging. Reverse wireless charging is also possible with the new “iPad Pro” models that can charge iPhones, AirPods and other devices.

Apple has long offered a low-cost entry-level “iPad” coming in at ~$300, but this year the low-end “iPad” is getting some features that were previously limited to high-end iPads.

Apple is preparing to update the tired old design of the budget ‌iPad‌ that has been around for years and introduce a 10.5-inch display with a more modern look with straight edges and rounded corners. We’ve seen this design before on iPad mini, iPad Air, and ‌iPad Pro‌.

A straight-edge design often accompanies a bezel-less interface, but now rumors suggest that the ‌iPad‌ will continue to have top and bottom bezels along with the Touch ID Home button, though it’s not yet clear if that’s true. Apple may opt for the ‌Touch ID‌ power button design used on the ‌iPad mini‌ and ‌iPad Air‌.

Except for the low-end ‌iPad‌, every ‌iPad‌ uses a USB-C port, and Apple is set to replace Lightning with USB-C with the 10th generation ‌iPad‌ update. We might also see some camera improvements, and a faster chip is a sure thing (like the A14), but one thing the ‌iPad‌ might lose is a headphone jack. By removing the headphone jack, the low-cost ‌iPad‌ will be compatible with the rest of the ‌iPad‌ lineup.

14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro

The M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pros were launched last October, and we may see new ‌M2‌ Pro and ‌M2‌ Max models before the end of the year. The new MacBook Pro models are scheduled to launch this fall, but there is a possibility that the timeline will be pulled back due to the supply constraints Apple is facing.

Mac Mini

The Mac mini hasn’t been updated since 2020 when the M1 chip was added, but Apple has no plans to retire the desktop yet. The update is in progress and updated Mac mini devices may have M2 and M2 Pro chips. We don’t expect any design changes, and top-of-the-line chips will likely be reserved for the Mac Studio, which is like a hybrid between the Mac Pro and the “Mac mini”.

Apple last updated the Apple TV in April 2021, and it may be time for an update. According to rumors, it is working on a new model with the A14 chip and 4 GB of RAM, which could be ready for release at the end of 2022.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said several times this year that Apple plans to lower the price of the ‌Apple TV‌ when it gets updated, but time will tell whether that actually happens.

Bonus: Mac Pro

Since the ‌Mac Pro‌ hasn’t been updated since 2019 and isn’t yet using Apple’s silicon chips, right now is definitely not the best time to buy. While we heard some rumors that the ‌Mac Pro‌ might receive an update before the end of the year in early 2022, now it looks like the new ‌Mac Pro‌ won’t arrive until 2023 at the earliest.

While we have a few months before the ‌Mac Pro‌ sees an update, we don’t recommend buying one at this time. You’ll definitely want to wait for Apple to bring its ultra-fast silicon chips to its premium pro machine.

The “Mac Pro” is said to use the “M2” Ultra, an upgrade of the M1 Ultra first introduced at “Mac Studio” and the even more powerful “M2” Extreme. The ‌M1 Ultra‌ has a 20-core CPU and 64-core GPU, and the ‌M2‌ Ultra could be even more powerful.‌ The M2‌ Extreme will be Apple’s most powerful chip to date, and Marc Gurman Bloomberg He said the chip could have more than 40 CPU cores and 128 GPU cores.
