The American company Apple will add a periscopic telephoto lens to the main camera unit of its iPhone 15 smartphones. This is reported by IT Home, citing sources among Apple supply chain representatives.

It is stated that Apple has been developing its own periscope module for several years and is now ready to send the development to production. According to sources, Largan company, which is the main lens supplier for the iPhone, will manufacture periscope lenses.

Lin Enping, the company’s president, reported that without directly mentioning Apple, the new telephoto lenses will have glass lenses and prisms, and the price will be higher than their predecessors. Enping also noted that it was decided to abandon plastic lenses in the new module and use a hybrid design instead.

According to IT House, due to orders from Apple, Largan purchased new equipment and began specializing in Flare noise reduction technology. This “chip” is expected to become the key in the periscope lens of the iPhone 15. Sources claim that the periscope will appear on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra (formerly iPhone 15 Pro Max) models.
