In the near future, experts plan to create six replaceable filters that will be attached to the lens. Each of these filters will pass only certain waves, making it possible to photograph objects at a clearly defined distance from Earth.
The combination of a 3,200-megapixel matrix, a powerful supercomputer, a complex data processing and distribution network, and a massive telescope perched on top of a mountain in Chile promise to shed light on the mysteries fundamental to our understanding of the universe.
