Messages appearing with camera and microphone icons in the upper right corner of the smartphone may indicate that users are being followed. The sun writes about it.

It is noted that similar messages appeared as early as Android 12. An active camera or microphone icon means that one of the running programs is currently accessing the corresponding device modules.

In the quick access menu, users can limit the gadget’s access to the microphone or cameras by manually turning it off. If tiles are not active, the system will request access again every time you try to activate the camera or microphone. In this way, it is possible to detect spyware as soon as they are eavesdropping and the user is watching.

It should also be noted that a microphone or camera activated without the user’s knowledge may not always imply unwanted surveillance – some official programs may include these modules independently for full operation. For example, when you open the Google app, the microphone can be turned on so that the voice assistant is ready to hear a search query.
