The iGuides portal reported that iPhone users updating to iOS 16.0.3 encountered a “rainbow screen of death”.
It is stated that the problem first started to manifest itself in users with a weak flickering of the screen, then the screen gradually changed to green “colors”, after which the “rainbow screen of death” appeared completely. At the same time, the screen remains fully operational and records touches, but it is almost impossible to use it due to the overlap of the image with colored bands.
On forums, users are stating that the flickering started appearing exactly after updating to iOS 16.0. Some defects are only visible when using the smartphone in a dark room.
Some of the victims managed to eliminate the problem by reverting to the previous version of the operating system. Therefore, the issue is software related and may be fixed in a future update. Despite reports from other users, Apple service center has confirmed the possibility of a defect and posted the title’s author on Reddit with a new smartphone.
