Last year, Xiaomi made a controversial move by launching two very similar smartphones, the Mi 11 Lite 5G and the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE. This year, the situation may repeat itself, but only in terms of names: in addition to (or instead of) the usual Xiaomi 12 Lite, the company is preparing the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE, but the difference in the characteristics of these models will be slightly larger.

Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE has reportedly appeared in the IMEI database with catalog number 2210129SG. The letter G at the end stands for Global: This is a model for the global market, not China. So it will appear with us. But what model is this?

There are speculations that the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE is China’s Civi 2 model. If so, it will have much more differences from the regular Xiaomi 12 Lite compared to the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE than the Mi 11 Lite 5G.

Therefore, the basis of the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE will be a much newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 platform (the regular Lite is based on the Snapdragon 778G), the resolution of the main sensor will be 50 MP (instead of 108 MP), and the module is ultra instead of 8 megapixels. It will have a wide angle. Finally, the battery capacity of the Civi 2 (Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE) is also slightly larger – 4500 mAh compared to 4300 mAh.

It is interesting that in September, a promising Xiaomi branded 2210129SG already appeared in the database of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), so the premiere of the device should take place really soon. According to the FCC, the phone will have three memory configurations: 6/128, 8/128 and 8/256GB.
