According to Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, iPhone 15 Pro models will have 8GB of increased RAM, a USB-C port and a large number of improved cameras. TrendForce states in today’s press release that the iPhone 15 series will once again consist of four models, and just like the iPhone 14 series, only two Pro models will receive Apple’s latest processor. If equipped with the A17 Bionic chip, the standard models will use the A16.

TrendForce estimates that the 15 Pro models will come with an increased 8GB of RAM, in addition to the A17 chip, compared to the 6GB in the iPhone 14 Pro models. Standard models will most likely have 6GB of RAM. There have been rumors of a switch from Lightning to USB-C for the iPhone since the European Union passed a law requiring such a change earlier this year.

According to previous reports, the research firm expects the iPhone 15 Pro Max to feature a periscope telephoto lens that provides 10x or more optical zoom compared to the current 3x limit. Pro models should have an updated prime lens with an “8P” design, which will be an additional optical element for better camera performance.

TrendForce reports that iPhone 15 models will continue to use Qualcomm modems for 5G, as Apple is not yet satisfied with the mmWave performance of its internal modem. The research firm believes that Apple will introduce its own 5G modem in 2024. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 15 series, possibly in September 2023.
