Luxury smartphone brand Vertu has unveiled its Web3-powered Metavertu smartphone, which features the usual flagship features but also offers a “secure chip” for blockchain user actions and premium transactions.

Vertu is betting on cryptocurrency millionaires who want smartphones to reflect their lifestyle and status. The British brand claims the phone has “encrypted metaspace” and an “A5 privacy chip” needed to protect the NFTs it can create from any photo with the smartphone’s camera.

Metavertu also has its own Value wallet and Vtalk messaging service with end-to-end encryption. There are no details about the operating system. The smartphone is based on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and has a 6.7 inch FHD+ AMOLED display. According to the official statement, it received a 64-megapixel camera with a 35mm lens, 55-watt charging support and a 4600mAh battery.

Vertu has made its new device even more unique with its back panel options. They’re made in the brand’s signature style and range from “carbon fiber” to “Himalayan crocodile leather.” The old version with 18 GB of RAM and 1 TB of flash memory is also decorated with 18 carat gold and diamonds.
