According to Mydrivers, quoting supply chain sources, Apple will not use the new USB-C connector on all iPhone 15 models that will be released next year. According to available data, only the more expensive iPhone 15 Pro models will have a USB-C connector, while two younger versions will have a Lightning connector. This would be another way to encourage users to buy the more expensive versions.

On October 24, the European Council approved that from 2024 all electronic devices sold in the EU, including mobile phones, tablets and digital cameras, must use the USB-C charging interface.

Some Apple-related accessory vendors believe that even if the iPhone comes with a USB-C connector, Apple will continue to figure out how to sell the relevant certifications to accessory manufacturers. It is not yet clear how this will be implemented in practice.

When asked if the company will change the Lighting port on the iPhone this week, Greg Joswiak, Apple’s marketing manager, said: “Obviously we have to comply, we have no choice.” Source
