New details about Google’s promising mid-range phone, the Pixel 7a, have surfaced online. The device has been credited with a major upgrade that will bring it much closer to the flagships than the current Pixel 6a.

First, the Pixel 7a will have a ceramic body. Let’s remind you that although the body of Pixel 5a is made of aluminum, Pixel 6a has a plastic body. The second feature, which is closely related to the material of the case, is wireless charging support. In mid-range models, this is still the exception, not the rule.

Finally, the camera improves significantly. It can’t quite be called a flagship, but by incorporating the 50-megapixel Samsung GN1 sensor (used in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro) in its design, it will certainly bring it closer to flagships. Used in Sony sensor module IMX7XX.

Earlier, the well-known insider Digital Chat Station reported that Google is building the next Pixel smartphone on the Tnsor G2 platform (as in Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro). And the first candidate for this role is the Pixel 7a. All in all, if all this is confirmed, the Pixel 7a will be much closer to the Pixel 7 than the current Pixel 6a is to the Pixel 6.
