At the 2022 World VR Conference held in China, Huawei introduced an interesting device called Vision Glass. From the look and name, you might think these are ordinary augmented reality glasses, but that’s not the case: Huawei Vison Glass is a companion device. It has no memory or its own processor, so the glasses cannot work independently like regular VR/AR glasses.
On the one hand, simplifying the “filling” made the device more compact – Vision Glass looks like ordinary sunglasses. On the other hand, connecting to a smartphone (and literally – the phone is connected via a cable) is mandatory to work with the device.
Then what’s in the glasses? Speakers and screens. Two OLED screens with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels are placed in Vision Glass, which creates a virtual screen with a diagonal of 120 inches. The maximum brightness is 480 cd/m², covers 90% of the DCI-P3 color space and provides diopter adjustment.
In China, orders will begin to be received from tomorrow, sales will begin in December. Its cost has not yet been disclosed, but it is clear that Vision Glass will be more affordable than traditional augmented reality glasses. Source
