After releasing Android 12L for Surface Duo and Duo 2 last month, Microsoft is back with another monthly update for Android smartphones. However, if you don’t have the first-gen Surface Duo for AT&T now ready to upgrade from Android 11 to 12L, the changelogs are less interesting this time around.
What’s new in the November 2022 update for Surface Duo and Duo 2?
Not a lot. Microsoft says the latest version “addresses the scenarios described in the November 2022 Android security bulletin.” Unfortunately, there are no device-specific improvements, new features, or fixes.

However, if you have an original Surface Duo for AT&T, you can eventually upgrade to Android 12L, which includes a huge list of changes, a new Windows 11-based UI, new features, and performance improvements.

You can download the latest Surface Duo firmware update by going to: Settings > System Update. Note that firmware updates for Surface devices (including Windows) cannot be uninstalled, so always check the list of known issues. Microsoft says there were no obvious issues with the November 2022 update for the Surface Duo and Duo 2, so everyone should be fine after installing the update.
In case you missed it, the Surface Duo 2 recently got one step closer to running Windows 11 almost as well as its big brother. The new set of drivers opened up more possibilities, although the project is still far from ready for everyday use.
