Pixel 8 and 8 Pro leaks begin: Samsung gives Google a new chip it won’t use

Won’t be until October of next year Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, if everything continues as in previous years. But that doesn’t stop the first leaks of Google’s mobile futures from appearing. And the first thing is to know the codename of the mobiles of the future, which means that Google is already working on them, but there is still time for them to come.

‘Shiba’ and ‘Husky’ These are the codes that will represent Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, respectively. So says popular whistleblower Roland Quandt. In addition to this, he also predicted some features that will come with future Pixels. These are the first details leaked about them.

It’s about the first innovation processor. As expected, Pixel 8 will come with the next-generation Tensor chip. In this case, it is indicated that we will have a new one. Tensor G3 and will be produced by Samsungas in previous years. It will even keep the same modem as the current Tensor G2, according to leaks.

The new Tensor G3 will be based on the Exynos 2300

This Tensor G3 chip will be based on the Exynos 2300, a Samsung processor codenamed ‘Zuma’. The difference this year is Samsung won’t use Exynos for new Galaxy S23. As confirmed by Qualcomm on this occasion, the Galaxy S23 will be betting on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which will be introduced next month.

That remains for Samsung to help create Google’s future chip, but that work won’t be on their flagships. It’s not unlikely that the South Korean company will stop using the Exynos 2300 in some markets, but the plan, according to The Elec, is not to use its latest technology with this chip.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will once again have their own modern processors, but not one with the latest flagships out there. While Qualcomm is committed to producing TSMC at 4 nanometers for the new Snapdragon, Samsung may stay at 5 nanometers for the Exynos 2300 with the idea to cut costs.

Other leaked specs are the amount of screen and memory. Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro expected to arrive RAM up to 12GBIt will be a leap compared to the current generation.

The Shiba model (Pixel 8) adds a FullHD+ panel of 2,268 x 1,080 pixels, while the Husky model (Pixel 8 Pro) does the same. 2,822 x 1,344 pixel “2K” panel. A configuration equivalent to Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

It’s still a year away and there’s room for Google to change its plans for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, but these initial leaks already give us a rough idea of what to expect.
