The Vivo X80 series launched earlier this year and has garnered a lot of followers, while the Vivo X80 Pro has received critical acclaim from users and critics alike. Now the Vivo X90 series is on its way and it definitely has a lot to add. The upcoming series will include the Vivo X90, X90 Pro and X90 Pro+ and is expected to be introduced in a few days. However, there is little left to the imagination, as various sources and promos have already revealed most of the details about Vivo’s next flagships. To make your job easier, we have gathered everything known about the Vivo X90 series in this article.
Vivo recently confirmed in a post on Weibo that the X90 series will launch in China in November 2022. The smartphones will be unveiled at an event that will take place at 19:00 GMT+8. The company will broadcast the event live on popular video streaming in China and on social networks such as Weibo.
Design-wise, all three models look pretty similar. On the front, the smartphones will have OLED displays with curved edges and a central hole. On the back of the phones, there is a round camera module with the blue Zeiss logo. All three phones are almost identical, except for the camera module, which is smaller than the standard model.
There’s also a weird stripe throughout the panel that promises “Extraordinary Imagination.” On the right side of the trio will be the power button and volume rocker. The series will be launched in a special red color similar to the X Fold+, which will have a leather cover and look very high quality. The phones will also be available in black and blue colors.
The new Vivo series is said to have advanced features. The high-end Vivo X90 Pro+ will feature a 6.7-inch 1260p AMOLED panel with 120Hz and 300Hz touch sampling rate.
It will be the only one in the series to feature the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The smartphone will be powered by a 4,700mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
The Vivo X90 Pro is expected to have the same display as the Plus model. It will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset and a larger 4800mAh battery. Here’s the tricky part: a standard pro phone can support 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Moving on to the standard Vivo X90, it will feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. The screen will have a resolution of 2800×1260 pixels. Like the pro model, it will run on the Dimensity 9200 chipset combined with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS4.0 storage. The device will be backed by an even larger 4,810mAh battery and will support 120W fast charging.
The Vivo X90 series is expected to push the limits in terms of photography. With its camera features, the premium Vivo X90 Pro+ easily beats the Galaxy S23 Ultra in terms of money. The rear of the smartphone will have four cameras including a 1-inch 50-megapixel Sony IMX989V main sensor and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64A telephoto lens. It also has a 48 MP Sony IMX598 ultra-wide lens and a 50 MP Sony IMX578 portrait lens. There is a 32 MP camera on the front of the device for selfies and video calls.
The Vivo X90 Pro, on the other hand, will feature a triple primary camera consisting of a new 50MP Sony IMX866 camera sensor, an older 50MP portrait lens and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. It will have a 32 MP selfie sensor. The rear camera module of the vanilla model has a 50 MP Sony IMX866 sensor and a 12 MP ultra wide-angle lens. However, the portrait lens has been replaced by a 12 MP telephoto sensor.
Although the official price of the upcoming devices has not been announced yet, we can expect it to be similar to the price of previous models. The series is expected to launch in the South Asian market next year. Some models will also debut on the old continent.
The price of the Vivo X90 series can be as follows:
Please note that the prices above are indicative and we have not yet received official confirmation. We’ll find out on November 22, so wait there.
