Apple had to cut the vocals because it found the lyrics of a song in the iPhone 14 commercial to be offensive. A Reddit user nicknamed FyreBoyeYT pointed this out.
Originally, the ad was accompanied by the Greatest track [англ. «найбільший»] from actor Idris Elba. This word is repeated several times in the song – in this way Apple wanted to draw attention to the size of the new smartphone lineup.
However, some users thought that the word black was used instead of the biggest, which is an insult to African Americans. Although the text of the piece did not contain a controversial word, Apple decided to make changes to the ad to avoid a conflict situation. Now in the new version there are no vocals – only music from the original song by Elba.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus smartphones were officially introduced at Apple’s presentation on September 7, 2022.
