Although it’s been almost two years since LG shut down its smartphone business, the company is keeping up with its promise to update its latest Android phones. This year, the company rolled out Android 12 to several eligible devices, including the LG G8X ThinQ, LG V50 ThinQ, LG V60, LG Wing and LG Velvet. LG Wing and LG Velvet are also available for Android 13, so the company has announced a software update schedule for next year.

In a recent post on the support forums, LG says it will bring Android 13 to LG Velvet in the first quarter of 2023. While the software update schedule doesn’t mention when LG Wing will receive the Android 13 update, it does say that LG will release the Android Security Update for four devices next quarter: LG Wing, LG Q61, LG Q92 5G, and LG Q52 5G.

This software release schedule is only available for LG’s domestic market in South Korea, so if you’re in another region, you’ll have to wait a little longer to get the latest updates. According to this year’s release schedule, we expect LG to release Android 13 update for LG Velvet in other regions in the second quarter. Since LG Wing only got the Android 12 update a few months ago, users may have to wait much longer to get the Android 13 update.

Despite the long wait, it’s good to see that LG is keeping its promise and providing Android platform updates and security updates to its devices. But Android 13 may be the last major update from OEMs, and users will have to rely on custom ROMs if they want to update to future Android versions.
