Google Pixel devices, especially those enrolled in the Android 13 beta testing program, benefit from timely updates. Android 13 Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) 2 Beta 2 was released on January 10 earlier this month. The update fixed some bugs on the device. The next update was scheduled for the first week of February, but Google delayed it earlier than expected.
There were two major fixes in the 9MB update. One of the fixes was a bug that caused devices to not connect to 5G networks even when they were available. The second fix was for a bug where devices could not disconnect a Bluetooth connection, even if it was encrypted, after receiving the command to disable the encryption level for that connection. The update, build number T2B2.221216.008, is available for all compatible Pixel devices that are part of QPR’s Android 13 beta program. This includes Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.
If you want to join the QPR2 Android 13 beta program please follow this link and Select your Pixel device from the list. When you do this and you see a button that says Enable, tap it and follow the instructions. However, keep in mind that after signing up for the program, you will need to wipe your phone to exit the beta program. Alternatively, you can wait until you install the stable version of Android 13 QPR2, which will be released on March 6th.
