The price of cell phones is out of control. After the electricity prices, the recent increase in fuel prices and the increase in food prices, the mobile phone industry has not been able to escape the bullet of inflation. We notice this especially in the mid-range.If we want to have a new cell phone from 2022, it is getting harder and harder to get a cell phone of excellent quality.
There has always been a dilemma between whether it is better to buy a more powerful model than last year or an existing mid-range, but this 2022 the distance is greater than ever. Buy last year’s model multiple times, it is cheaper and beyond the price, we get a better phone.
Power takes the backseat in 2022
It seemed inevitable that the price of 2022 mobile phones would rise, but We did not see a step back to power.. Almost everywhere, this is less ambitious about 22nd-gen hardware. Also, it’s not all about processor power: a less powerful platform slower memories comesomething that draws attention in daily use.
It’s important to make one thing clear here: power is not an obsession. players or performance lovers: key point for a phone to age well. Android is gaining more and more weight, apps are gaining more and more weight, and hardware (whether we think we need power or not) is crucial to keeping the phone from drifting over the years, especially in the mid-range.
The Xiaomi case is quite curious: on the overall balance level, there is no POCO or Redmi that surpasses the POCO F3
We have a clear example at Xiaomi with a chaotic Redmi catalog and a POCO X4 Pro. Greatly improve multimedia and fast charging Compared to the previous generation, it has jumped back, but with considerable strength. One button for example. Unfortunately a POCO X3 Pro isn’t easy to get, but it’s still cheaper than the previous one, and if you care about power, it’s much better in terms of both processor and memory.

If we examine the catalog of other popular brands such as Samsung, we will also find intriguing cases. One of them is the Samsung Galaxy A52s facing the Galaxy A53. A52s can be purchased on Amazon for less than 300 Euros and noticeably stronger than her brother.

A53 practically a clone of the A52S with a less powerful processor and with the only advantage of having an extra 500mAh battery. At the time of writing this article, its price has dropped, but until a few days ago, the price difference between them was more than 100 Euros. Now they are more equal, but you can save a few euros by buying the previous model.
This happens with Realme as in the case of POCO. There is no better quality-price alternative in the 2022 catalog.
We can continue with multiple examples such as the Realme GT 2 Neo with Snapdragon 870 and the 120 Hz AMOLED display that costs just over 300 euros. Currently asking price for 9 Pro Plus is slightly better on camera, noticeably low in everything else.
The question seems obvious: buying a “middle class” has never made more sense from the previous generation. Betting on the new model might give us an extra year of updates (not in all cases, since Android 11 doesn’t come with a few outdated terminals), but betting on hardware is looking to the long termmaximizing the phone’s chances of aging better.
