2022 was a disastrous year for phone sales, and everything points to a notable rebound (at least in Spain) if prices continue to rise at the same rate. Last year I wrote an article titled “I wanted a 2022 mid-range model, I bought a 2021 model that outperformed it in everything.”

It was April 2022 and the outlook was bleak. Mobile phones have pretty tight specs at an average price of 300 or 400 euros. If we wanted something really good, the last ticket came out to almost 500 euros. Not a year has passed, middle class 2023 has not yet been born, but I am sure that Buying 2022’s mid-range will be best for pocket. We won’t see cell phones cheap enough to fit everything.

2022 has passed. time to buy

Mid-range is under 200 euros, mid-high is around 300 euros, they didn’t want that much. However, we also wanted new and good cars for less than 20,000 euros: current increases make this impossible.

Fortunately (or not so lucky if we usually sell the phone soon), Android phones are experiencing a sharp drop in value in the months after their release. I took a walk through Amazon to check the current prices of some of the best mid-range mobiles of 2022 and… surprise. They have the price they should have as PVP. Let’s see what I’m talking about.

In the Xiaomi catalog, the Redmi Note 11 can be purchased in 6 + 128 GB version for 190 euros (I cannot recommend the 4 GB RAM version under any circumstances). A mobile phone that costs 259 euros in this version.

Realme also sold its rival, the Redmi Note 11, the Realme 9 for a slightly higher price: 279 euros. As of today we have a phone with AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 680 and 90 Hz for 219.99 euros so yes.

If we increase the budget to 350 euros, we are faced with a very curious situation. You can buy a Google Pixel 6 for 100 euros less than the starting price. Google has decided to lower the price of this mid-range model, and since it has reached 359 euros, it has not risen again, except on its official page. Same numbers for Samsung. Its A52S was launched for 449 euros. Today it costs 343 euros.

Since they are models with only a one-year lifespan, they still have an update cycle. And the ability to buy new, full warranty. 2023 will bring a similar trend to 2022, except for the surprise. Expensive mid-range, specs that don’t quite fit the final bill, and tough arguments compared to last year’s tech sheet, but with significant discounts.
