Redmi A1 and A1+ entered the Indian market last year as the most affordable smartphones of the Xiaomi brand. The A1+ was later launched in the country as the rebranded Poco C50 and gained immense popularity. Now, it looks like the brand is ready to bring the next generation Redmi A2 series smartphones to India as they have already obtained the BIS certification.

Consultant Mukul Sharma has spotted two Redmi smartphones on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website. It is reported that these devices are Redmi A2 and Redmi A2 +. While the listing does not reveal any specifics of the two smartphones, it hints that they will be launched soon in India.

Both Redmi A2 and A2+ could launch in the country in a month or two. However, there is no official confirmation from the brand yet. We may see more budget smartphones from Xiaomi as the brand is reportedly focusing more on the entry-level segment, where it has a larger share. This is because 2022 is not a very good year for the Chinese company, which has fallen to third place in the Indian smartphone market. While Samsung managed to take the first place, Vivo took the second place.

As a reminder, the latest Redmi A1+ has a 6.52-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 processor combined with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. For photography, the phone has an 8-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor on the back. There is a 5 megapixel selfie camera on the front panel. It is powered by a 5000mAh battery that supports 10W charging.
