According to Mark Gurman BloombergApple has discussed selling a new premium iPhone alongside the Pro and Pro Max models before 2024. According to this timeline, the device will be part of the iPhone 16 series or later. In the September 2022 issue of the weekly Power On newsletter, Gürman said the iPhone 15 Ultra could replace the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year. However, today’s issue of the newsletter suggests that Apple may instead launch the Ultra next year as the new most expensive model.

“But instead of renaming the Pro Max as Ultra, Apple could have added an even higher-end iPhone on top of both Pro models,” Gurman said. “Inside, there’s talk of doing just that – potentially in time for the 2024 iPhone launch.”

It’s unclear how the new high-end model will differ from the Pro and Pro Max, but Gurman has suggested that the device could feature additional camera improvements, a faster chip, a larger screen, and a portless design, possibly without Lightning or USB-C. He said the device would be “more expensive” than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, with prices starting at $1,099.
