It looks like Apple wants to limit the capabilities of the USB-C port on the iPhone 15. Obviously, using only a branded cable will allow you to use fast charging and high speed data transfer. In other words, it will be similar to Yıldırım. A special authentication chip will be responsible for the control.

If an unsuitable cable is connected to such a smartphone, the message “This accessory is not supported” may appear on the screen. At the same time, iPad 10th generation, iPad mini, iPad Air and iPad Pro tablets use a normal cable without a chip. But the data transfer rate varies – on the 10th generation iPad it roughly corresponds to Lightning, that is, the loss of USB 2.0.

The same speed limit will be on the iPhone 15/iPhone 15 Plus, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. That is, unlike the iPhone 14 series, the connector will have only a physical design, no speed indicators. But the “iPhone 15 Pro” and “iPhone 15 Pro” Max will apparently get higher speeds.
