Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has screen problems again

Although the technology of foldable smartphones continues to develop, no significant progress has been made in terms of durability yet. Unfortunately, the mechanism required to put the phone together and the ultra-thin OLED display only exacerbate the problem. Being aware of this situation, Samsung sells the phone with a one-year warranty in countries where there is no legal obligation. However, recent customer reports suggest that some Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 screens fail after the warranty has expired, making the situation worse. Details are here…

Galaxy Z Fold 3 users report screen malfunctions outside of the warranty period

Some Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 users have reported that their foldable internal screen malfunctioned soon after the manufacturer’s one-year warranty expired. According to reports, the screens disappeared for no apparent reason. Users say there isn’t any knock, just a crunch when folding the phone to hang up. Only a crack that appears along the hinge will kill the screen.

The duration of use of the affected devices is highly variable. For example, one of the broken phones was bought 3 months ago, and the other one was used for 1 year without any problems. Users whose Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 screen was broken contacted the company. Allegedly, Samsung said it would fix the screen for $700-800, which is almost 70% of the original cost of the phone.

There have been reports of a similar issue in customer reviews on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 product page on Samsung’s website. During a recent livestream, tech YouTuber Linus Sebastian from Linus Tech Tips (LTT) briefly discussed the complex phones and hardware issues while showing that the Fold 3’s internal screen was cracked. It should be noted that the reported screen breakage is currently only a claim. It is unknown if the users did anything to damage the phone. But this isn’t the first time Samsung’s foldable phones have run into problems.

There were also problems with the Fold and Flip models of the first generation. Despite Samsung’s claims that the phone should have a lifespan of several years, that may not be the case. People who bought Samsung Care Plus, a kind of warranty extension, probably still don’t know about it, but anyone who buys such an expensive phone needn’t worry about their screen breaking.
