A modified iPhone 12 Mini has been spotted with USB-C and Lightning ports. The iPhone 12 series originally came with only one Lightning port. Earlier, there were reports of Apple’s possible switch from the Lightning port to the USB-C port. The addition of the USB-C interface is the first such change for the iPhone 12 Mini. The success of replacing the iPhone 12 Mini by adding a USB-C port was accomplished by a YouTuber named Hyphaistos3672.

iPhone 12 Mini disassembled first, speaker removed. This made room for an additional USB-C port which then connects to existing hardware. The speaker was later modified to fit the new architecture. After reassembling the device, the components seemed to fit tightly. Both interior and exterior finishes were surprisingly good.

The Lightning port and USB-C port were shown to be fully functional on the device. Therefore, it seems realistic to simultaneously charge your device while listening to audio over a wired connection. After unplugging the audio jack from the iPhone, it was impossible to listen to audio and charge the iPhone at the same time.

However, it is worth noting that the addition of a USB port is not new to iPhone modifications. There is also speculation that Apple is considering dropping the Lightning port for a USB-C connection. Indeed, the Cupertino-based company has faced some regulatory pressure, but has yet to switch to USB-C.
