The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra was subjected to the durability test of PBKReviews last week and unfortunately it didn’t do very well. The S23 Ultra’s screen broke when it was first dropped from the waist. The curved screen of the S23 Ultra was probably the main culprit behind its fragility.

However, the S23+ equally failed the durability test, despite having the latest version of Gorilla Glass and a flat screen (compared to the curved screen of the S23 Ultra). The cracks in the flat glass panels of the S23+ were comparatively smaller than those of the curved panels of the S23 Ultra, but both devices nevertheless continued to display content and accept touch input, the only advantage of this drop test. It’s worth noting that most modern glass smartphone sandwiches will likely shatter if dropped from waist level.

Galaxy S23 Plus has a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 2340×1080 pixels (FHD+) resolution, 48-120 Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling rate. The punch-centered display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and can play HDR10+ content. The Galaxy S23 Ultra, on the other hand, brings the latest hardware to the conversation. It has the best screen, best cameras and fastest chip of the brand. It has a tall 6.8 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of QHD+ (3088×1440) and a dynamic refresh rate that can range from 120Hz to 1Hz using LTPO technology.

Overall, the Galaxy S23 Ultra and S23+ seem to have similar endurance levels and users should use these devices more carefully to avoid accidental damage. A tough case is also a great option for those who want to be a little carefree around their phone.
