Ergonomics is one of the most important factors in smartphones. Grip comfort, material feel and weight greatly affect user satisfaction. Although it is a little stretched when it comes to foldable phones, these rules do not change. However, recent rumors suggest that the Pixel Fold may be surprisingly heavy compared to its competitors.

Google’s Pixel Fold might be surprisingly heavy compared to other foldable devices

As foldable phones continue to gain momentum in the market, manufacturers are constantly pushing the boundaries with their designs, features and capabilities. One of the most anticipated foldable devices of 2022 is the Google Pixel Fold, which is expected to compete with other popular foldable devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Oppo Find N2.

However, recent rumors suggest that the Pixel Fold may be surprisingly heavy compared to its competitors. According to a source close to the subject, the Pixel Fold may be heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which is already a relatively heavy device. This has caused concern among potential buyers looking for a lightweight and portable device.

One possible reason for the Pixel Fold’s weight is the size of the battery. Rumors suggest that the Google Pixel Fold could have the largest battery among all foldable devices on the market, with a capacity of around 5,000mAh. This is much more than the 4,400mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the 4,520mAh battery in the Oppo Find N2. A larger battery is definitely preferable as it provides longer runtime, but comes at the cost of extra weight.

The leaked renders of the Pixel Fold give us a good idea of what to expect in terms of its dimensions. The device is expected to be around 140mm high and around 80mm wide, making it compatible with the Oppo Find N2. But the Pixel Fold’s internal display will be closer to a traditional tablet in form factor, rather than square like the Galaxy Z Fold 4. This will optimize the device for interface elements designed for tablets, but will also make the device heavier.

So what does this mean for potential Pixel Fold buyers? While a heavier device may be a concern for some, the extra weight for the larger battery and optimized UI elements may be well worth it. Plus, the Pixel Fold’s design will likely be sleek and stylish, offsetting its extra weight. It is not yet clear whether the weight of the Pixel Fold will be a major concern for consumers. However, with a larger battery and streamlined user interface, it could still be a highly desirable foldable device.
