iFixit experts disassembled the new premium model of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone series to evaluate its repairability. Compared to last year’s Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone, experts found some long-awaited changes.

At iFixit it was found that the tabs on the battery are “easy to remove”, making removal and repair much easier. Experts note that the adhesive strip of the battery is made in the style of iPhone 4.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 represents the “highlight” of the iPhone 4.

Even the tab you have to pull to remove the battery has been detected. As noted by iFixit, this has been the easiest battery removal since the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. iFixit pointed it out quite ugly:

Samsung has finally acknowledged that yes, batteries can and should be removed.

Also noteworthy is the very prominent heatsink, which gives hope that the S22’s overheating issues are a thing of the past. In all the rest, iFixit did not notice any particular changes. However, if in their opinion the Galaxy S21 “barely” managed to score 4 out of 10 on the iFixit repairability scale, then the Galaxy S23 Ultra deservedly received 4 out of 10. At the same time, repairmen will still need to remove the old glue and carefully apply the new one.

However, iFixit has promised to raise the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s score to 6 out of 10 if Samsung releases parts and repair manuals. For comparison, the iPhone 4 also received a 6 out of 10.
