On the eve of the MWC international exhibition in Barcelona, HMD has announced a new entry-level smartphone called the Nokia C02. The device has rather modest characteristics, and some parameters can often be considered outdated. However, it has several features that will interest a certain category of consumers. These include removable battery, moisture protection, 3.5mm headphone jack and Android 12 (Go edition).

The Nokia C02 is built on an unnamed quad-core chipset clocked at 1.4 GHz. It is accompanied by 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of eMMC 5.1 permanent memory. The smartphone features a 5.45-inch LCD display with FWVGA+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio meaning large margins at the top and bottom. It has a single 5-megapixel primary camera with portrait mode and a 2-megapixel selfie camera. The device itself is made of drop-resistant plastic, the back has a pleasant tactile texture.

A 3000 mAh battery is responsible for the autonomy. The capacity is small, but thanks to the energy-saving functions, the smartphone can work for hours in talk mode and for weeks in standby mode. Charging is slow, via the microUSB port, but the battery can be easily replaced at any time. It also has a slot for two SIM cards and a microSD slot. Nokia C02 runs on Android 12 (Go edition) operating system, which optimizes the device’s performance and saves space. The manufacturer promises two years of updates.

The Nokia C02 is available in two color options: Dark Blue (dark blue) and Charcoal (dark gray). Information on prices and release dates is not yet available.
