Leading smartphone brands are making new announcements at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 technology event. In January, Nothing CEO and co-founder Karl Pei confirmed that the brand is working on its next smartphone. It also announced that it will be of better quality than last year’s Nothing Phone (1). Now, at MWC 2023, Pei has announced that the Nothing Phone (2) will feature a flagship chipset.
As a reminder, the Nothing Phone (1), released last year as the company’s first smartphone, was equipped with the Snapdragon 778G chipset. There is no confirmation that the phone (2) will be powered by Snapdragon 8 series chipset at MWC 2023.
This suggests that Nothing Phone (2) could include a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, or an all-new 8-series chipset that could launch later this year. But the inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 series is a clear clue that the Phone (2) will offer far better performance than its predecessor.
Specifications of Nothing Phone (2) (rumored)
Unfortunately, Nothing has confirmed anything else regarding the phone’s specs (2). A recent leak revealed that the model number is A065. It is expected to be equipped with 12 GB of RAM, virtual RAM and 256 GB of storage. It will likely get a 5,000mAh battery and continue to feature a 120Hz AMOLED display.
The device is expected to launch in the third quarter of this year. As Pei has said before, the company will focus on the US market this year. There is also no indication that its next product will be released in March. It is not clear what type of device it is.
