According to a well-known Ice Universe source, the upcoming foldable smartphone Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 will not receive a major update to the main camera. An insider claims that the Fold5 will use the same sensor as the Fold4. This is 50 megapixel ISOCELL GN3 with 1/1.57 inch optical format with 1 micron pixels. By modern standards, the sensor is far from the largest.

At the same time, Ice Universe adds that in the case of Fold5 it is impossible to use the new and larger ISOCELL HP2 used in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. An insider does not explain the reasons, but it seems that everything depends on the dimensions of the sensor and the lack of free space on a decent smartphone.

At the same time, it’s worth understanding that, thanks to the new platform and improved software, the Fold5 can take photos and videos slightly better than its predecessor.
