Samsung’s latest flagship series, the Galaxy S23, received mixed reviews from users with complaints focused on the phone’s camera optimizations. According to a tweet from a reliable insider Ice Universe, Samsung is preparing a “major update” to fix these issues.
One of the biggest problems with Galaxy S23 cameras is pixel binning, which reduces image resolution but improves image quality by reducing noise and increasing dynamic range. However, despite this feature, users still experience blurry photos, shutter lag and night mode issues.
Reddit users are actively voicing their disappointment, with one user saying: “The longer I’ve had my S23 Ultra, the more I’m starting to feel like Samsung has made a really crappy phone.” Another user added: “Samsung is very uncommunicative with its customers. This shutter lag issue has existed for so long that it is not yet clear how it has been resolved.”
Fortunately, Samsung is reportedly trying to fix these issues with an update to optimize the camera. Tipster Ice Universe suggested that the night mode will be one of the features that will be improved in a future update.
The Galaxy S23 series features a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel front camera. Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 200-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens, a 10-megapixel periscope lens (one with 3x optical zoom, the other 10x) and a front-facing 12-megapixel selfie camera.
It’s worth noting that phone manufacturers have released updates to fix the issues shortly after a new phone lineup is released. Therefore, Samsung’s efforts to optimize the camera system of the Galaxy S23 series may not come as a surprise. Regardless, users are eager to see if the upcoming update will fix their issues and improve the camera performance of the Galaxy S23 series.
